Legacy Entrepreneur Advancement Project (LEAP)

Supporting the Momentum of Black Entrepreneurs in Greater Philadelphia

Building buzz for local businesses through pro-bono marketing, PR, digital and design services.

In 2021, Vault launched LEAP, the Legacy Entrepreneur Advancement Project, to help accelerate diversity, equity and inclusion in the business community of Greater Philadelphia. Through LEAP, Vault’s goal is to actively support the economic growth of businesses in our hometown that are led by Black entrepreneurs and business owners from marginalized groups.

Each year, a LEAP participant is selected to receive a grant for $100,000 worth of complimentary services to drive their business forward. From sneakers to diamonds to candles, Vault has helped LEAP participants amplify their product marketing and media relations efforts to boost sales and brand awareness.

Capabilities

Driving a LEAP in sales for Bungee Brand through digital marketing.

Vault’s inaugural LEAP participant was Darrell Alston, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Bungee Brand, a Philadelphia-based manufacturer of sneakers and apparel. As a formerly incarcerated entrepreneur, Darrell has a unique story that resonates with consumers. To share this story and elevate the brand, Vault launched a comprehensive digital program to engage new and return customers.

Vault revamped Bungee’s organic social media strategy to develop a more cohesive look and feel, while better engaging with the target audience. Vault also developed a robust paid advertising plan for Facebook and Instagram, as well as an SEM campaign to engage with consumers earlier in the sales funnel. Alongside the increased digital push, Vault conducted media outreach to fashion trade publications to build awareness for Bungee’s new seasonal collections. The results? A 51% increase in sales year-over-year, a 46% increase in return customers and a whopping 106% increase in website traffic.

Helping Philadelphia Diamond Company make a dazzling impression.

In 2022, Vault’s LEAP team worked exclusively with Philadelphia Diamond Company, the area’s fastest-growing custom jewelry retailer, owned by the husband and wife team of Kenyatta and Nicole Black. Focusing efforts on social media, photography and media relations, Vault helped the local business expand its reach and showcase the beauty of its one-of-a-kind engagement rings and custom jewelry.

Vault got strategic to establish a strong social presence for Philadelphia Diamond Company, particularly on Instagram. The team created custom content calendars, built a boosting strategy and budget, and closely monitored performance metrics to inform future content development. The team was able to secure more than 2 million impressions and add more than 200 new followers in a six-month period. Vault also photographed and styled more than 40 custom Philadelphia Diamond Company pieces to design a branded look book that would encourage potential customers to book consultations.

In addition to digital and creative services, Vault conducted ongoing media outreach to targeted local and national outlets to build awareness around Philadelphia Diamond Company and establish Nicole and Kenyatta as thought leaders in the Philadelphia area and jewelry industry. Landing the cover of Philadelphia Style magazine and placements in other regional publications, Vault successfully brought the custom jewelry studio into local conversations.

Sniffing out stellar placements for Mount Airy Candle Co.

Mount Airy Candle Co.’s Marques Davis, Vault’s 2023 LEAP participant, hand pours a variety of unique home scents for all seasons. Vault began working with Marques at an exciting time for his craft candle business, as he had just signed a lease for a new studio, retail and lounge space in Philadelphia’s East Falls neighborhood. The team kicked off the LEAP partnership by introducing Marques and the brand to local media, later announcing the new Mount Airy Candle Co. studio and retail spot when it opened in September. Placements with Philadelphia magazine, 6ABC, Philadelphia Business Journal, Visit Philadelphia and more totaled 2.2 million impressions and $650,000 in ad value.

Beyond media relations, Vault supported Mount Airy Candle Co. with graphic design and video development to help Marques showcase his brand’s most popular scents and existing product photography. Vault’s design team created a look book that captured the essence of each candle and served as a valuable piece of marketing collateral. The team also produced a video version of the look book to display at the grand opening of the Mount Airy Candle Co. studio.
