By centering on what matters most to its community, we created a new hospital brand as warm and purposeful as the care inside its walls.

THE CHALLENGE

Temple Health set out to open a first-of-its-kind hospital in Philadelphia dedicated to women and families. This hospital would fill a critical gap in care for the North Philadelphia community. But before Temple Women & Families Hospital could open its doors, it needed a distinct identity — one that felt warm, welcoming and representative of its patient-centered experience. Vault developed an engaging brand that could stand on its own, speak directly to women and families, and introduce the hospital across touchpoints from advertising on neighborhood bus wraps to signage on-site.

OUR APPROACH

  • Lean into approachable secondary brand colors, teal overlays, and soft textures to design a visual identity complementary to Temple Health’s main branding 
  • Incorporate authentic, intimate photography showcasing real moments of joy, care and empowerment 
  • Define the brand voice through a campaign platform, “Your Health Above All,” that works as an interchangeable framework with messages rooted in the patient experience, such as “Your Journey Above All” and “Your Future Above All” 
  • Draw inspiration from community focus groups during creative development, as well as test new messaging and design with community partners to ensure the creative would resonate  
  • Infuse the brand into parking lot banners, pop-up signage, labor & delivery cart signage and more to shape a comfortable space for patients from the moment they pull up to the hospital 
  • Support the hospital launch with strategic messaging tied to the campaign platform, from transition communications to the grand opening event

THE IMPACT

  • Established a warm, inviting brand that conveys both the compassion and caliber of care at Temple Women & Families  
  • Successfully differentiated Temple Women & Families from the main Temple Health brand, establishing it as a dedicated destination for women’s and families’ health 
  • Delivered a consistent brand look and voice that extends across every channel, including website, advertising, environmental signage, patient communications and more 
  • Created meaningful brand moments for patients, including onesies for the first babies born at the hospital and totes for their parents to take home 

why it matters

A brand sets the tone for how a hospital is perceived, whether someone sees it on a bus shelter down their block or onsite as they navigate to a prenatal visit. In a community where health outcomes have long been inequitable, getting that tone right carried real weight. Through intentional design and messaging, we built a cohesive brand that the community would recognize and trust for their family’s care.
