The Tastykake account team had the distinct pleasure of welcoming actress Kate Flannery (a/k/a Meredith from NBC's smash hit "The Office") home to Philadelphia and to the world's greenest bakery, the Tastykake Bakery at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.
In preparation for the opening of Tastykake's very first public tours (scheduled to begin in mid-2011), Vault asked Kate to share her favorite Tastykake memories from her childhood in the Germantown section of Philadelphia and Ardmore in Montgomery County. Kate, a devout Tastykake fan, not only shared her memories, but worked with the prop staff at "The Office" to get the famous local "kakes" on the set of the show. Tastykakes have made a few appearances at Dunder-Mifflin ever since.
When Kate returned home to Philadelphia for the Thanksgiving holidays, we had to offer her and her family a VIP tour of the bakery. She graciously accepted and spent the morning reminiscing about her favorites, and trying all the new products that Tastykake is launching for 2011.
