Vaultictionary: A Reference Guide to the Vault

You know how they say that every workplace has its own culture? That couldn’t be more true than here at Vault. I’ve been especially reminded of the idiosyncrasies of our office in recent months, as we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming several new employees.

After a few weeks of watching their confused expressions when we ask if they wanted Heartlands or FWOT for lunch, I decided start a reference guide (henceforth known as The Vaultictionary) both for our amusement and the use of any new employee, client, associate or friend who spends some time at Vault and wonders what heck we’re talking about.

Here are a few of my favorite “Vaultisms” to get us started, but feel free to add your own in the comments section.

Heartland -- Delicious salad from Houlihan’s Restaurant (conveniently located just across the street from our office), and favorite lunch of every Vaulter. Not to be confused with our fabulous client of the same name.

FWOT (pron. fah-whot) – Fingers, Wing and Other Things. Another lunch-time favorite. The honey mustard alone could fuel our office for weeks.

Edward – Not a Vault employee, but the main character of the Twilight series. Obsession of many a Vaulter and fodder for lunch-time discussion.

R-PatzRobert Pattinson, actor who plays Edward in the Twilight series. Obsession of many a Vaulter and more fodder for lunch-time discussion.

Dancing Man – Office neighbor who frequently dances in the lobby, for the amusement of whoever happens to be manning the front desk at the moment. (See also “Call me Pam Beasley.”)

The PR Bus – Agency president Maribeth Schmidt’s enormous white Suburban. The vehicle of choice when transportation is needed for off-site business meetings, press kit deliveries and long road trips.

The Freelance - Our sleek, big-screen Mac, fully loaded with all of the editing software this agency could ever need.

The Palmer Room – Our conference room.  It just so happens to be a meeting room at the Blue Bell Country Club in Blue Bell, Pa.  Ask us about that story one day.

The Hulk – Account Manager Patty Stofanak. Known for her fearless ability to rise to the occasion, whether it’s defending a client from an overzealous vendor or correcting a misguided Houlihan’s employee on the correct way to make a Heartland. Also a verb, as in, “to hulk out.”

LoriOrr – Our fabulous business manager. We say her name as one word because it’s just so much more fun that way. As a side note, LoriOrr could be Hulk Runner-Up.
