Caving ... 140 Characters at a Time

As the ladies of the Vault can well attest, I appreciate social media. In fact, I admire its power.

However, I am adamantly opposed to my personal use of social media. I prefer a person to speak to me rather than simply “tweet” at me.

Call me old-fashioned, but I am simply one of those girls who think that a boy should call to ask you out on a date and not text “Kildare’s at 9 p.m.” (Of course, this is probably why I am single but I digress…)

Regardless, my staunch personal opposition to social media is well known. Yet, I did something recently that I am stunned by and surely will rue the day I did so...

I signed up for a Twitter Account (@margaretkane).

This was not done as a way to ensure that I would be ridiculed for a name that is associated with Shady Pines and/or great suffragettes of the 19th Century. Rather, it was done because I have far too many humorous comments to share with the world.

Yet, now I am faced with posting my “FIRST TWEET TO THE WORLD!” Hello, pressure. In the future, will our first tweets be placed on our gravestones? If so, then I am certainly posting one of the following:
• "Toto, I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore." Dorothy Gale, The Wizard of Oz (1939)
• “In Sicily, women are more dangerous than shotguns.” Calo, The Godfather (1972)
• "Snap out of it!" – Loretta Castorini, Moonstruck (1987)

If not, these “tweets” are in the running:
• Dear Charlie Manuel: Please put Roy Halladay on a pitch count to protect our potential chances in October 2010. Your friend, Meg Kane
• American Idol. Was anyone watching? Did anyone care?
• Who OD’s on Bok Choy?
Sharon Stone had plastic surgery? Next you’ll tell me that Demi Moore did too!

I am open to suggestions. Please feel free to vote for one of the above and/or provide me with inspiration.

Just "tweet" me.  Do not, I repeat, do not attempt to speak to me. I'm on a roll here.
