Students from West Catholic High School surprise officers at the 16th Distric Police Station
I just got back into the office from a trip to the 16th District Police Station in West Philadelphia. I was there helping students from West Catholic High School deliver baked goods to the station. The 16th District Station lost one of their own, Officer Isabel Nazario, in a tragic hit and run accident earlier this year, so we felt it was especially important that we show our appreciation this Thanksgiving.

Meanwhile, my partner in crime, Lauren (see “A Day in the Life of an Account Coordinator) and students from other Philadelphia area Catholic Schools stopped by several more stations that suffered the loss of an officer this year. The local news stations even came out to interview the students and officers (Lauren’s interview has been playing non-stop on KYW news radio!)

It was a simple good deed – just a delivery of some pastries and a sincere “thank you” to the officers for their bravery and service. The whole visit took just a few minutes out of our day. But it was so heartwarming to see how much it meant to the officers. One told me, “No one ever comes in here just to thank us. What a treat!"
Happy Thanksgiving!
